Stuart Thompson: Flying High with Helping Wings

We’re thrilled to share an inspiring update from one of our bursary awardees, Stuart Thompson, who has been soaring to new heights thanks to the support of Helping Wings and our generous sponsor, Ports of Jersey.

Stuart was awarded the 2025 Helping Wings Flying Bursary, giving him 10 hours of flying tuition with Skywalker Flight Training at the Jersey Aero Club — along with membership to the club for the year. This opportunity is designed for talented local people who, for one reason or another, might not normally have the chance to take to the skies. 

Stuart’s passion for aviation has been clear from the start, and he’s embraced every moment of his flying journey so far. In his own words:

“I’m getting on very well with my lessons and I can’t wait each time I have one to get in the air and learn or practice something new.”

His enthusiasm reflects exactly what Helping Wings is about — helping people reach beyond barriers and achieve personal dreams. Whether facing physical challenges or life’s everyday hurdles, our bursary recipients show enormous determination and courage, reminding us all of how powerful personal goals can be.
