Continued Training With Aerobility
Helping Wings hosted a successful flying weekend for five of its bursary students with the support of Aerobility instructor Mike Owens.
Mike, who had previously visited Jersey to work with the same group of students, returned to continue their training. He brought an aircraft equipped with hand controls, enabling people with lower limb impairments to operate the aircraft. This allowed the students to build on their earlier flying experiences and develop their skills further.
Aerobility, a UK charity, provides access to aviation for people with disabilities, offering adapted aircraft, subsidised lessons, and pathways to pilot qualifications. Each year, almost 1,000 disabled people benefit from the opportunities it provides.
Helping Wings extends its thanks to Mike Owens for his time and commitment, to Morvan Hotels for providing his accommodation, and to Paul at Europcar for his continued support with transport.
The weekend highlighted once again the value of our partnership with Aerobility in creating opportunities for disabled islanders to experience and enjoy the challenge of flight.
